1928 Durant Panel Truck Owned by Ken Oaksford
Serial # E-24807
Engine # W5-51430
I recently acquired this 1928 Model M2 Panel Truck. It has been built on a M2 chassis with sedan body panels. I could use rear fenders and grill shell for starters, window and door handles, running boards, and I'm sure other parts as well. I have not yet started restoration. Would like history of vehicle if any one has such.My research has proven to me that from March of 1928 to June of 1928 the Durant Company labeled all of its trucks with the Durant badge and later changed to the Rugby name. Everything on this vehicle is of Durant origin. Durant Motors on data plate.Although it does not show well in the picture, the lettering on the side reads, Utica Washing Fluids, 1410 Francis St.,brUtica New York. I have had the good fortune of being able to take pictures of this truck in front of the original storefront. I have not had time yet to research local history. But plan to in the future. I believe the Otis Motor Car Company of Utica, New York originally sold this truck. I would enjoy any comments any one would like to make. I'm also looking for rear fenders and rear bumper, nice hubcaps, grill shell and what have you.The body was built by the Hayes hunt corp. Durant motors of N.J built the truck. This truck is in need of restoration and I could use any and all information I can get on both the truck and body builder. This truck runs stops well. I removed it from 50 years of storage in a barn. I plan to restore it, but it will take me a few years. Hope you enjoy the picture.
