TO ALL DEALERS AND SERVICE STATIONS:

We have received a number of requests from dealers for the necessary parts to change the brake mechanism on Star cars from 10" to 11". This is quite an undertaking and involves considerable expense and we feel that except in exceptional instances, it would not be justified in view of tbe cost.

We have, however, designed a brake pedal brace, Part No. 22309 which vie are offering, at a list price of $ .45 that materia11y strengthens tbe brake operation and permits all of the foot pressure to be transmitted to the brake band.

This brace is installed as indicated on the attached instruction drawing, and can be put on in less than two hours. The purpose of the brace is to anchor the bottom of the brake pedal in a fixed position, so that as pressure is applied to the pedal, no movement takes place at this point. Our tests shows that where heavy pressure was used on the brake pedal, that the pedal would move at this point, thus nullifying a considerable portion of the pressure which this brace eliminates.

In addition to the installing of the above mentioned brace, we also recommend the use of ¼" brake lining which has a cut-out section 3" long at the center of the band,. in other words, making two pieces of the brake band instead of one., leaving the gap at the center approximately 3", wide. This while it removes a part of the brake band, at the time increases the pinching action of the brake and affords additional brake effort.

Very truly yours,
